Imagine a stay in beautiful Bournemouth right in the heart of town but still in a blissful, country garden setting. The Whitehall Hotel is in a prestigious position of being mere paces away from the Bournemouth International Centre and the Pier while still overlooking the beautiful greenery and bright floral colours of the town’s Lower Gardens. In fact, guests at The Whitehall enjoy a private gateway through the hotel’s terraced garden leading down to the award-winning gardens, plus a path which takes you directly to the beach.
The Whitehall is an independent hotel in the heart of town, built in 1865 and retaining its grand décor, high ceilings and original charm but updated and maintained to offer modern amenities and a comfortable stay.
A comfortable stay
The Whitehall has 46 bedrooms, including some ground floor rooms, all with ensuite facilities and there is a lift to all floors. Many of the bedrooms offer views across Bournemouth’s beautiful gardens. Amenities in every room include a radio, direct dial telephone, flat screen television, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. Because the Whitehall has been extended extensively by various owners across the decades, the bedrooms vary quite a lot but each one comfortable and beautifully presented. You can choose one of four family rooms, a double or twin room and there are also 13 single bedrooms available – ideal for groups or convention visitors.
If accessibility is a consideration, The Whitehall has a number of ground floor bedrooms with a walk-in shower room. If you want to bring your pet on your stay you’ll be pleased to hear that The Whitehall can also accommodate your dog for an additional £5 per night.
Warm welcome
Whether you are staying on business or you just like to stay connected, there is free WiFi available throughout the hotel. There is some, limited, parking out the front for a charge of £10 per day, but if you’re not a driver nothing in town is in too much of a walk from The Whitehall’s central location. If you’ve had a long day in the sun or you fancy a quiet evening, there are two comfortable lounges and a bar and sun terrace overlooking Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens, giving you plenty of places to unwind and relax.
If you’re feeling peckish, The Whitehall serves breakfast, lunch, three-course evening meals and a popular Sunday roast in its large and comfortable dining room for residents and their guests. The menu features traditional British dishes and the chef strives to source the best local, seasonal and fresh produce to create your meals. Guests with children can request a smaller portion of any of the dishes on the menu and if you have a special diet the chefs can cater for your requirements and are happy to discuss the menu with you in advance.
At your service
Breakfast menu options range from a bowl of your favourite cereal from the buffet, fruit, porridge or toast to a traditional Full English cooked breakfast served piping hot to your table. Lunch is served from midday to 1.30pm with options including soup of the day, salads, baguettes, omelettes, Ploughman’s platters, filled baguettes and hot sandwiches. Dinner comprises three tempting courses of traditional Great British dishes with coffee to follow at your table or in one of the lounges.
First for functions
With its enviable setting just paces from all the town’s amenities and entertainment venues, The Whitehall is a popular choice for conference delegates and groups and has facilities to host break-out meetings for any of these events. If you’re looking to hold a business away-day or conference, The Whitehall can accommodate meetings, training courses, interviews and assessment centres, conferences, private luncheons and dinners too.
There is a well-appointed function room on the lower ground floor of the hotel which you can hire to hold your private event. There are tables and chairs, a dance floor and bar and your own private access to the terrace and Bournemouth’s beautiful Lower Gardens below.
Sports breaks and celebrations
The Whitehall is well used by visiting bridge holidays and guests for scrabble and chess tours. It’s also pleased to welcome Bowlaway bowls tour participants, who enjoy the hotel’s central location and close proximity to all of the town’s main amenities as well as its many local bowls clubs and facilities.
If you’re looking for a different way to spend the festive period or see in the New Year, The Whitehall is a popular destination for ‘Turkey and Tinsel’, ‘Twixmas’ and New Year breaks with singing, dancing, celebrations, slap-up festive feasts, mince pies and perhaps even a guest visit from the big man in red!
Whatever your reason for coming to Bournemouth you know The Whitehall is ready with a warm welcome, so why not plan your next trip to the seaside today?
