Whether you’re a fan of the sweet tones of the ukulele or you’re a keen “uker” yourself, make sure you book a date with the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain when they next come to town.
This lively and passionate, and more than a little quirky, line-up brought their festive tour “With Bells On” to the Lighthouse in Poole in December 2017, performing a mix of festive tunes, modern rock, toe-tapping oldies and some originals thrown in for good measure.
Rather than play second fiddle to more traditional orchestral instruments, the ensemble’s performances are entirely ukulele and singing (with perhaps the odd spot of whistling thrown into the mix!) It’s fun, it’s frivolous and this one was festive too!
The orchestra are keen on audience participation – whether singing along or learning the ukulele parts they like to post online for their fans to practise ahead of the event. Did you bring your uke for this unique and original celebration of the festive season?
