Planning your stay
If you’re looking for a comfy room for the night rather than sweeping sea views from your luxury boudoir, a Cumberland crash pad might do the trick. You get a cosy single bed with en-suite bathroom for a discounted rate – a decent base close to the beach and to town. For a little bit more pampering, upgrade to a comfort single with modern private bathroom. If you’re bringing a partner, you can plump for a budget double for a relaxing stay or trade up to a comfort twin or double; all options come with blackout curtains and modern bathroom.
If you’re planning to settle in take full advantage of the Cumberland’s seafront vantage, take a sea view upgrade for panoramic views across Bournemouth bay. Families can opt for a connecting room – a double en-suite connected to a single en-suite – giving everybody space while keeping them close – or a family ocean view room with a double or king size bed, a single and a pull-out or extra bed with balconies, chairs and stunning seaside vista for everybody to share. The Cumberland’s elegant house restaurant Mirabelle serves breakfast and dinner and offers a popular Sunday luncheon with a choice of three roasts, a fish and vegetarian option (12.30pm-2.30pm). For something a little grander, two rosette brasserie the Ventana Grand Café is dripping in the hotel’s trademark lavish and contemporary art deco styling. Advance booking is recommended. The Ventana serves from midday to 9pm and can be booked online.
For something altogether more relaxed, sink back and soak up the opulence of the Del Mar Lounge, with a selection of soft drinks, beers, wines, cocktails and afternoon teas. For a big day with a difference, make the Cumberland Hotel the backdrop to your family celebrations or private function. The Cumberland can host weddings for 40 up to 200 guests and couples are invited to design their own food and drinks package.
The Oceana function suite echoes the hotel’s lavish styling with a free span dome in the centre displaying a colour-changing light show and grand chandelier dressed with 50,000 crystals. With stage, dance floor, sound system, club lighting and private bar it’s a great venue for up to 130 evening visitors or 90 people seated. The Mirabelle room with dramatic ebony panelled walls and hundreds of mirrors can fit up to 200 hundred people seated or 230 evening guests and has its own dance floor, plus access to the Lido deck – making it ideal for a summer bash.
The Cumberland’s boardroom seats up to 25 delegates and comes equipped with the office and presentation kit you need to host a team away-day, residential training course, award ceremony or business function.
Time to unwind
Guests at The Cumberland can enjoy the hotel’s large Miami-style poolside lido, which accommodates over 120 guests on an assortment of graphite loungers and chill beds. If you need to cool down between mocktails, the Ventana Grand Café is also home to one of Bournemouth’s largest outdoor swimming pools.
