Laid-back style
While it may have one of the area’s most prestigious addresses, The Cliff successfully remains down to earth and relaxed. Meaning you can take a moment to escape your busy day and enjoy the simple pleasure of beachside living without suffering any airs and graces. The surroundings are well styled but comfortable, inviting you to socialise, to dine and to relax and if the sun’s out you can find a pew in the beer garden.
The Cliff has a variety of food menus and runs several offers and deals including a Midweek Treat menu, Chef’s daily specials and Great British Roasts on Sundays. The seasonal menus are a collection of classic British dishes given a unique Cliff twist to make them truly special for any occasion – whether you’re celebrating a special day or just toasting the end of a tricky week. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 11am – 11pm and Sundays 11am – 10:30pm and food is served Monday to Thursday between 12pm and 10pm, Fridays and Saturdays 12pm – 10:30pm and on Sundays between 12pm and 9pm.
Lunchtime deals
The lunch menu is packed with mouth-watering options whether you want to grab a quick bite on a break from the office or while away a lazy afternoon with the extended family in tow! On Monday – Friday from 12-6pm you can also take advantage of a fixed-price menu, enjoying two courses for £12.95 or three for £15.95. There are several nibbles and starters on the list if you get the munchies during drinks including a garlic ‘pizzette’, a Mediterranean mezze and a box-baked Camembert with cranberry and sloe gin chutney.
Moving on to starters and perhaps you might treat yourself to a lobster and king prawn pot or kiln-smoked salmon tacos. If you’re after a lighter lunch, The Cliff has a tempting selection of pizzas, sandwiches and salads including the magnificent sounding caramelised fig and whipped goat’s curd pizza and a sticky crispy duck salad. Mains include a Wagyu burger topped with optional grilled halloumi, Cropwell Bishop Stilton, King Prawns or ½ lobster. There is a mouth-watering selection of steaks and then a selection of desserts. If you’ve got space you’ve got to try the melting golden chocolate orange bomb. If you can’t choose then plump for the House Sharer for four of the favourites scattered with strawberries.
Delectable dinners
The Cliff’s dinner menu will cater for all occasion, whether you’re having an impromptu catch-up with friends or being wined and dined with a romantic dinner for two. The menu features all the popular lunchtime choices with further highlights being the salt and pepper squid and the chargrilled lamb and balsamic koftas starters. If you’re feeling virtuous you might opt for the popular wholefood salad featuring kale and cauliflower couscous, asparagus, tenderstem broccoli, avocado, butternut squash, sweet potato, pomegranate and roasted pumpkin seeds topped (if preferred) with the lamb koftas, chicken, goat’s curd or grilled halloumi.
For mains, you might opt for the king prawn, crab and chorizo linguini, the lobster and Devon crab fishcakes or perhaps a hearty roasted pork belly and seared scallops. Check out the steaks menu for the Cliff’s take on this classic including a7oz 28-day aged fillet steak with an ale-glazed shallot tart topped with Cropwell Bishop custard and Stilton and walnut crumb with twice-cooked chunky chips. Why not top it all off with a dessert like the luxurious Dulce de leche lava fondant with praline ice cream and peanut butter crumb or a classic sticky toffee pudding with Bourbon vanilla ice cream?
Traditional roast
On Sundays, why not make that beach stroll more inspiring with a date at The Cliff for one of its legendary roasts? They still offer their standard menu if you don’t fancy all the trimmings. Perhaps you’d rather the lobster and king prawn pot or duck liver and port parfait with gooseberry and Prosecco flavour compote?
Desserts are a big deal at The Cliff with a delicious range of sweet treats on the menu.
