Rising comedy star Steve Bugeja enchanted the Lighthouse in Poole on 2 December 2017 with his new stand-up show, Summer Camp, in which he recalled and recoiled at the memory of the summer of 2009 he spent working as a US holiday Camp Councillor.
Casting his mind back to the time the then eighteen-year-old Bugeja found himself the designated ‘grown up’, ‘confidante’ and ‘guardian’ to a bunch of American youths, this show took him – and his audience – back to that fateful season in the States. If there were lessons to be learned from his time away he came home quite assured of his knack of being useless with children – and women for that matter!
Recently finishing his third sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, you may have also spied the BBC New Comedy Award Winner on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central and heard him on Radio 4. Steve Bugjega’s performance at Lighthouse, Poole was one of twenty-one tour dates taking him from his final bow at the Edinburgh Fringe through to February 2018.
