Were you inspired by the endeavours of those plucky individuals who take on incredible assault courses in the name of Saturday night television? Were you up for the challenge of a beach-based obstacle course in the name of the RNLI? Did you brave the Sandstorm?
Brave the waves
RNLI Sandstorm 2017 was a brand new beach assault course spanning 5k eastwards along the coast from Bournemouth’s iconic Pier. It was a real test of strength and determination as participants braved the beach on a series of gruelling challenges including running the giant ‘Dunes,’ tackling the ‘Scrambler’ cargo net and hauling themselves up the ‘Coastal Clamber’ frame.
Contestants made their way over the waves on the ‘Crossbeam’ balance beam, dunked and dived under the Breathtaker barrier and hauled themselves up the ‘Cliffhanger wall.’
There were 20 obstacles to tackle over the 5k course and if that all seemed like a walk (run!) in the park (water!) participants could always opt to do it twice and make it a 10k challenge!
Saving lives at sea
Participants must be 18 years old and could enter as a team or individually. All profits from ticket sales and sponsorship will go towards the RNLI’s lifesaving work.
