The RNLI is a lifesaving institution which plays a vital rescue service in our beautiful coastal town. The Mudeford Lifeboat Station is throwing its annual summer fundraising Funday on Sunday 30 July 2017 – a completely free event with heaps of activities to entertain the whole family.
The star attraction of the RNLI Mudeford Lifeboat Funday is always the raft race, where local businesses and plucky individuals alike pit their home-made crafts against each other in the water. Some will be meticulously engineered for pace while others intricately adorned for style points, but all will bring guaranteed laughs – if not for the crews, then for the spectators.
Other attractions include a lifeboat and helicopter display by the Mudeford Lifeboat and HM Coastguard, giving visitors a taste of the skill and bravery of their personnel. The programme also features a thrilling air display, a duck race down the ‘Mudeford Run’ and a host of fairground rides, stalls, sideshows and watersports demos and have-a-go activities.
In 2016 the event raised nearly £21,000 – every penny of which went back into maintaining this essential service out of Mudeford. So, come down, cheer on the raft racers and even get some tips on how to create your own vessel for next year’s event!
