Verwood is an affluent, attractive town and civil parish located towards the east of Dorset, just north of Moors Valley Country Park, on the outskirts of the New Forest.
Verwood properties tend to be on the more expensive side – but with good reason. The area boasts handsome Victorian and Georgian family homes complete with gardens, numerous bedrooms and spacious drives. Verwood is also a popular spot to retire – as the town itself is quiet, but has excellent links to neighbouring Bournemouth and Poole.
For a small town, Verwood has a lot of fantastic amenities for residents to enjoy. The Hub, for example, holds a 100-set hall, 300 seat theatre and smaller rooms, used for films, concerts, activities and meetings, acting as a real centre for the community.
Verwood also features a small high street in the town centre and a Morrisons superstore on Penine Way. A country market takes place every Friday in Memorial Hall, which sells local produce – a charming way to support local businesses.
Wilts & Dorset and Yellow Buses supply Verwood with excellent transport links, and the town is conveniently situated at equal distance between Christchurch, Hinton Admiral and Bournemouth train stations.
In terms of education, there are 3 primary schools in the area, and although there is not currently a secondary school, one is currently being planned, making the town well-equipped for families with young children.
