Kinson is a calm, small suburb of Bournemouth, located next to Nortbourne – perfect for those who enjoy a quieter and calmer pace of life. Kinson used to be its own village and as such has a tranquil, local feel to it, as well as having everything you need in a compact space. The area centres around Kinson Village Green (on Wimborne Road).
Interestingly, Kinson has a long history – before the Norman Conquest in 1066, the name was Cyneston, which is the Saxon word for farm. As you might imagine, the area is very green – near the river Stour and Kinson common, which is a local nature reserve and site of Special Scientific Interest. The local Pelhams Parks contains the BH Live Active – perfect for those who like to stay fit.
The area has a good mixture of new builds and older homes – there’s a good variety in terms of flats, bungalows and houses. Kinson has excellent retirement complexes, and as such is popular for retirees.
Although Kinson is a small suburb, it does have its own primary school (Kinson Primary School on School Lane). Kinson is also walking distance to nearby Redhill and Northbourne, so residents can take advantage of many amenities on their doorstep.
Kinson Road Medical centre can be found off Bramley Road, and locals are fortunate enough to have a Tesco Superstore within walking distance. Castlepoint Shopping Centre is a short, 10 minute drive away, and provides shopping, eateries and a kids club.
The Kinson area is also favoured by those who are eco-conscious, highlighted by the a large Community Recycling Centre nearby (Millhams, on Ringwood Road).
