Bearwood is a very green, fairly new, small suburb of Poole. Up until the 1980s the area was mostly heathland – this means today residents can enjoy many green and natural leisure spaces, including Knighton Heath Golf Club.
Due to its recent development, Bearwood boasts a lot of newer build properties, which are great for young professionals and families. Properties include bungalows and 3-5 bedroom detached and semi-detached houses, giving buyers plenty of options.
Bearwood is still a spacious area for properties today – not overcrowded or condensed – so most of Bearwood’s new build houses have larger gardens and drives than the older Victorian and pre-war builds that you’ll find in the other suburbs of Bournemouth and Poole.
While most houses are modern, you can also find characterful properties such as converted farm houses on Magna Road. This is the oldest road in the area, and has a few converted properties that were built before the 1980s. Magna Road is named after the fact that it passes through Canford Magna. Interestingly, many roads in Bearwood are named after people linked to the signing of the Magna Carta.
Transport links are excellent in Bearwood, with the Wilts & Dorset buses heading to Poole and Kinson, and the Yellow Buses heading to Bournemouth, enabling residents to enjoy the feel of village life but with the accessibility of a town.
Bearwood is a small suburb but does have a school and nursery in the area: Bearwood Primary and Nursery School is right on your doorstep, making the area popular with young families.
Other benefits to residents include the Canford Magna Arena which hosts concerts, firework displays and other family friendly events, as well as a monthly car boot sale.
