Catching a blockbuster in Bournemouth Town Centre is now a premiere experience with the magnificent Odeon at Bh2 Leisure. With ten state-of-the-art screens and packed to the brim with the cinema brand’s latest audio-visual innovation, Bournemouth is blessed with many of Odeon’s cutting edge features, brought together for the first time in this flagship venue.
You enter Bh2 Leisure and head for the Odeon’s glossy hospitality area. Here you collect your tickets from the convenient machines mounted on the walls, grab your freshly-popped popcorn and other assorted cinema snacks like pick and mix sweets, a scoop or two of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream or you can mix yourself a Coca Cola Freestyle.
This natty machine lets you choose from ten of the company’s best loved fizzy and still drinks (from Fanta, to Oasis, 7UP to the mighty Cola itself!) and mix it all up to find your favourite flavour. Once you’ve cracked your recipe you can save it via a dedicated app and save it for next time or share it with friends.
Then it’s time for the main event. Once you’ve grabbed your tickets (also available to purchase from any of the snack vendors), head up the escalators and enter a brave new world of cinema. The ambient lighting and terrific sound systems along this journey give just a taste of the technology you’re about to enjoy in one of the venue’s bespoke cinema screens.
Before you settle down, why not pay a visit to the Odeon’s licensed bar, where you can choose a bottle of wine, perhaps a draft beer or soft drink to take into the cinema with you. If you’re feeling peckish why not sample a “pizza and plank,” cooked and served to order and available to enjoy in front of your chosen film.
If you’ve got tickets to the iSense auditorium, you’re about to experience the Odeon’s very latest in audio and visual technology. This huge room features a wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling screen with pictures from the latest 4K digital projectors. The adventure begins on the walk through to the cinema, the corridor walls alive with digital images and projections.
You’re then welcomed into the vast room surrounded by speakers on walls and ceilings. The Dolby Atmos sound system uses 56 top-spec speakers, each one individually controlled to help draw you into the movie. Take your pick from a premium seat or plump for a full recliner for the ultimate in cinema-going luxury.
The Odeon at Bournemouth’s Bh2 Leisure has ten screens in total, seating 2000 people. Eight of the ten screens have recliners available, while Screens 1 and 2 are completely kitted out with them. If you’re bringing the family to one of the dedicated Odeon Kids screenings, Screen 5 is really fun, with a special seaside-themed soft play pit at the front of the auditorium, where younger cinema-goers can relax or scramble around without fear of getting under anybody’s feet!
Odeon Kids offers special screenings on Saturday and Sunday mornings, plus weekdays during school holidays, with tickets priced at just £2.50 for everyone. Over 55s, on the other hand, might rather the opportunity to enjoy an Odeon Silver Cinema screening. These daytime showings come with a complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits before you settle down to view.
It’s never too early to start coming to the cinema. With Odeon Newbies, parents and guardians can bring their babes-in-arms and tiny tots to dedicated screenings, which are slightly brighter, slightly quieter and fully embrace the demands and temperaments of these special, tiniest of guests. These shows are perfect for new parents who have been missing the normality of a trip to the flicks or young families who have older children to entertain while juggling the baby!
If you’re someone who dreads the start to the week, the Odeon’s Bargain Mondays deal might just brighten your day. Check out the website for bargain prices all day and evening – just £5.50 per adult and £20 for a family of four.
The Bh2 Leisure Odeon offers a relaxing and welcoming environment with its own branch of Costa Coffee in the foyer where you can meet up with friends before a film or enjoy just when passing through the building. The 175-space NCP car park under the complex means you can pull in and enjoy the facilities without even having to venture outside – ideal on those miserable winter days that even Bournemouth can’t escape from time to time!
