Part of the popular Moors Valley Country Park on the edge of Ringwood Forest, the Moors Valley Railway is a local attraction in its own right. It was built back in 1986 and is proud to be the South’s longest, fully-signalled, narrow gauge steam railway. It’s open weekends and school holidays for rides to and from the main Country Park.
Thomas and steam train fanatics alike flock to the Railway’s various special events including the Santa Special and the Grand Summer Steam Gala, where the station is visited by various traction engines and classic cars.
The railway offers driver tuition – the ideal gift for any steam train fan and it is home to 21 miniature engines and various rolling stock. These are used to transport passengers, as goods trains and side-tipping skip wagons, which make for a fascinating – and functional – miniature railway.
