Composer John Williams is the mastermind behind some of the most magnificent, instantly recognisable film soundtracks in the world. If for some reason his name is unfamiliar to you, Williams is responsible for the themes to ET, Superman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Jaws and countless others that shaped ours – and our children’s childhoods. This music is intricately written yet immediately recalled and inspires the imagination, paints a picture in the mind and triggers memories too.
So, imagine the audio extravaganza when the world-famous Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra performed these ground-breaking film soundtracks. The BSO John Williams Filmfest took place in Bournemouth’s beautiful Meyrick Park on the evening of Friday 11 August 2017.
Gates opened at 6pm for picnics before the orchestra, conducted by Victor Aviat, struck up at 8pm. Hundreds of ticketholders enjoyed a live symphonic performance of some of John Williams’s most memorable movie themes from the 1960s to the present day.
