Sports and entertainment fans alike will enjoy a slam-dunkingly great night out a the BIC when the Original Harlem Globetrotters basketball team come to town. Taking in Bournemouth as one of the many stops on the team’s 2017 World Tour, spectators will be entertained and awe-stricken in equal measures by these formidable – and true showmen – New York athletes with fancy footwork and trick shots.
The team are embarking on their 92nd year tour in 2018, taking in over 250 North American venues and 30 countries worldwide.
They previously wowed the Bournemouth crowd in 2017, in a year that saw them name Pope Francis the ninth honorary Harlem Globetrotter, grace the catwalk at New York fashion week, break a staggering seven Guinness World Records and remixed their trademark theme song, Sweet Georgia Brown. Records still held by this high-energy sports outfit include the longest basketball hook-shot, most basketball 3-pointers made by a pair in one minute and longest blindfolded basketball hook-shot.
The star-studded line-up for the Globetrotters’ 2017 tour included Big Easy Lofton, Ant Atkinson, Hi-Lite Bruton, Thunder Law, Bull Bullard and Cheese Chislhom, plus female stars TNT Lister and Ace Jackson.
The performance featured a basketball game showcasing the team’s trademark ball handling style with rim-rattling dunks, trick shots, comedy set pieces and crowd interaction.
