If you’re looking for a central place to stay that’s flexible and accommodating, with no frills but a warm welcome, the Fairmount Hotel might well be the place in Bournemouth for you. It’s situated in the heart of town just a five-minute walk from the beach, the Bournemouth International Centre and Bournemouth Square.
Your room, your way
The Fairmount offers 27 individually decorated, affordable, clean rooms to a wide range of travellers, whether you’re a family on a budget, a group of friends on tour or a team of contractors. The bedrooms range from singles to large family rooms and can accommodate up to ten people in your chosen configuration of single and double beds.
All bedrooms have a modern en suite bathroom with a private shower or bath and WC, free fibre optic WiFi (available in all bedrooms and all around the building), an LED flatscreen television with Freeview and HD channels and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. If you need ironing facilities, a fan or a hairdryer these are available from reception. Bath towels (one per person) are provided and changed every day and bed sheets changed after every three days. Every room has thermostatically controlled heating, so whether you’re back after a baking day on the beach or a brisk lap of Bournemouth’s Christmas market you can set your environment to the perfect temperature.
The Fairmount cannot provide a cot, but children under 4 can stay free of charge in their parents’ bed. If you’re bringing a travel cot, please arrange in advance so you are given a room with adequate space to accommodate this.
Access to leisure
While the Fairmount doesn’t have its own leisure facilities, guests can enjoy full access to those at the nearby Wessex Hotel’s Leisure Club for a small charge. These include access to the gymnasium, a heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room plus a heated outdoor pool in the summer. You can collect a pass from reception (maximum ten at a time) for access to all the facilities from 8am to 8pm seven days a week. Just present your pass at the Leisure Club to access the special £5-a-day rate.
Feeling peckish?
The Fairmount has also arranged a great deal with a bar just one minute’s walk away to offer guests a Full English breakfast with unlimited tea and coffee for just £6. You can buy your breakfast voucher from the hotel reception.
There are refreshments and snacks vending machines if you want to grab a quick bite and there is a convenience store just 100 metres away.
The Fairmount has its own licenced bar stocked with a wide variety of drinks for exclusive use by the residents. It also has a comfortable seating area and Freeview television if you’re not planning to hurry out or you’re waiting for some of your group to get ready!
Checking in and out
Check-in is from 3pm until 9pm and the reception is unmanned after this time unless you have a prior arrangement. If you want a late check-in there is a £5 fee per half hour up until midnight. You are welcome to nominate a friend or relative to check in on your behalf if this is an option.
Check-out is any time before 10am and you can extend this for a charge of £5 per hour per room for a maximum of four hours. You will need to arrange and pay for this extension by 9pm on your last evening. If you’re checking out late your vehicle parking will automatically be extended free of charge until midnight.
If you arrive earlier than 3pm and your room is ready you are welcome to check in sooner. If your room isn’t ready or you want to leave your bags to enjoy your last day in the town after checking out The Fairmount is happy to keep them for you.
Services and facilities
The Reception at The Fairmount is open from 10am to 9pm but there are staff and a night porter available in the building 24/7. The doors of the hotel are locked from 9pm but your room key will also open the hotel’s front door, giving you 24 hours’ access if you’re out for the evening. Your key will only open your own bedroom as it is programmed with a twin code – one for the main door and one for the specific room. If you are part of a large group you can leave your names with the night porter if some of your party is likely to return without one of the two room keys.
If you’re bringing a car you can use The Fairmount’s on-site parking for a charge of £5 per day for cars and small vans (£10 if your vehicle takes up two spaces). The permit lasts from midday to midday and is available from the hotel reception. Motorcycles park for free.
Disabled guests
The Fairmount regrettably doesn’t provide disabled access or rooms and it hasn’t got a lift. If you have mobility difficulties and require a ground floor room, please contact the hotel prior to booking to check availability.
Stag and hen parties
The Fairmount offers flexible accommodation ideal for well-behaved stag and hen parties on Friday and Saturday nights only. You can all bunk down in a big, comfortable room sleeping up to ten people in single beds, not bunk-beds, and the hotel is very centrally placed – ideal for Bournemouth’s main restaurants and nightlife.
Welcome retreat for contractors
The Fairmount is proud to be a popular retreat for visiting contractors welcoming the option to book for just the one night or for extended stays. Whether you’re travelling alone or you want a multi-share dorm, the hotel offers affordable, comfortable accommodation to give you a good night’s sleep after a long day at work. Please ask about discount rates for longer stays before you book.
Whether you want comfortable, central accommodation without the fuss of a boutique hotel or you need a crash-pad for you and your mates on a weekend away, The Fairmount Hotel offers friendly, flexible boarding at a fair price.
