Dorset has a proud heritage for its local arts and crafts and locals and visitors alike have purchased and enjoyed home-grown wares hand-crafted by the county’s tradesmen for well over a century. One of the highlights on the county’s crafting calendar is the Dorset Arts and Crafts Exhibition.
This annual showcase of art, textiles, pottery, jewellery, photography, cards, decorations and more has been held at The Purbeck School since 2014.
If you’re handy with paints, beads or any other materials or you’re a keen fan of home-grown textiles and products, come and check out the work of local artists and support Dorset’s creative industries.
Besides a popular craft market, the event plays host to various exhibitions including hurdle-making, wood turning and porcelain and ceramics restoration. There is an exciting line-up of have-a-go workshops in store and a guest exhibition celebrating one hundred years of the Women’s Institute (WI) in Dorset too.
Whatever your interest or artistic leanings you’re bound to snap up a great souvenir here and help celebrate the county’s creativity and flair at the same time.
