If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Bournemouth without the formality of a large hotel but with the same warm welcome and level of service, why don’t you pop in to the Dean Park Inn? This is a large public house run by the Wadworth’s brewery based on Wimborne Road, just a short hop from the town centre.
Central location
If you’re bringing the car you’ll find the Dean Park Inn very easy to get to and there is ample free parking at the front of the property. Location-wise, having your own vehicle is no means essential if you’re staying here. The Inn is conveniently situated on the main bus route through town and just a mile from Bournemouth’s main train and coach station. It’s also less than seven miles from Bournemouth International Airport if you’re flying down to the south coast.
The Dean Park Inn is a popular venue which cuts quite a distinctive presence in a leafy corner close to the town centre. You can stroll down to the Square in just twenty minutes and the Inn is just over a mile from the Pier, the beach and the BIC and Pavilion Theatres.
Room at the Inn
But while other Inns may be content to offer the traditional pub experience with all the trimmings, the Dean Park goes better with twelve well-presented bedrooms including family rooms. All bedrooms are en-suite with a bath or shower, plus flatscreen Freeview television, free WiFi throughout, tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities plus complimentary biscuits and mineral water for the duration of your stay.
Children of all ages are welcome to stay here but regrettably the Dean Park Inn cannot accommodate stag and hen parties or pets in the bedrooms. Dogs are, however, welcome in the bar and are even given a treat if they’re very well behaved!
Flexible check-in
You can check in any time from 2pm to 8pm and check-out is from 6am to midday on the final day of your stay. There is no night porter at The Dean Park Inn so the latest check-in must be before the pub closes unless arranged prior with the manager. Please let them know if you’re planning to arrive after 6pm. You can contact the Dean Park Inn direct on 01202 552941.
You’re welcome to store your luggage before check-in or on your last day if you want to have one final trip to the beach or you’ve got something planned and your bags would get in the way.
Breakfast is included in the price of your stay. The breakfast menu features all the popular classics to kick-start your day in style including a full English, sausage or bacon sandwich, beans on toast, salmon and scrambled eggs, Belgian waffles, plus a decent section for vegetarians and those who need to follow a gluten free diet.
Lively lunch or quiet pint
The Dean Park is a popular meeting place for locals and for visitors to the town looking for a friendly spot for a bite to eat or just a pint of Wadworth’s ale. The management have made the decision to no longer screen live sports, making the Inn a calm and welcoming place to grab a large corner for all your friends or a cosy table for two even at AFC Bournemouth’s kick-off time! If the weather is good there’s a lovely garden area where you can enjoy your meal or a drink while enjoying the Bournemouth sunshine and sea air.
The bar is open from 11am to 11pm every day of the week and food is served from midday to 2:30pm and 6 to 9pm Monday to Saturday and from midday to 5pm on Sundays.
Something for all tastes
The food menu offers a tempting range of light bites and mains, with a decent selection of starters priced around the £5-£6 mark including Chipotle chilli chicken wine, a home-made Cornish fish cake and chilli mango prawns. There’s a variety of pizzas, sharing boards – a butcher’s board and a cheese ploughman’s – and a number of mains including fish and chips (in Wadworth beer batter, of course!), burgers, sausage and mash, scampi, a slow-cooked chilli con carne and ham and eggs. Children and those with smaller appetites are also catered for and they do a good line in sandwiches and flatbreads if you want something lighter.
This large venue has a public bar area providing a warm and traditional pub atmosphere and a separate restaurant area which can also be hired out for family functions, events and celebrations. If you don’t want to organise your own event, the Dean Park Inn has a popular entertainment programme too. There’s a popular pub quiz on Thursdays at 8:30pm and live jazz evenings at the same time each Monday – check the website for the week’s line-up.
