The popular Cheese & Chilli festival makes an eagerly anticipated return to Christchurch in 2018, packed with all the the tastes and attractions that bring visitors back in their droves to sample this fresh and local fare every year. The weekend will attract between 70 and 100 traders keen to show off and sell their lip-smacking produce, plus a packed live music programme, children’s play zone, falconry displays, fun rides and inflatables, a magician and circus skills workshop!

Because the event is hosted by the producers themselves it’s a very relaxed affair where you can browse the wares, seek cooking or preparation advice and leave with tons of ideas (and bagfuls of goodies!)
The 2018 event brings with it a brand new attraction – pig racing – which is bound to be a thriller! Coupled with a beer festival hosted by Downton Brewery across the whole weekend and the return of Dorset Mobile Bar’s inflatable pub, the Cheese & Chilli Festival 2018 is an event not to be missed.
Cheese and Chilli for 2017
The deliciously-themed Cheese and Chilli Festival returned in 2017 on June 10 and 11 for full weekend of indulgent snacking, food fandom, fun ingredients and family entertainment. Celebrating its fourth year, this event celebrated the joys of both cheese and chilli within a vibrant festival setting.
Visitors can wander around up to one hundred stands and stalls selling every imaginable type of cheese and chilli as well as produce incorporating the both as ingredients and all manner of dishes and delicacies to accompany the stars of the show.
Cheese fans are spoilt for choice with the variety of local and regional cheeses to sample and buy. If you want to know the specifics, the cheese makers themselves are on hand for a chat and there are organised talks by a local cheese expert.
Chilli lovers can explore an incredible variety of plants and sauces to sample and to buy and seek advice on how to grow their own!
As well as opportunities to explore and sample a world of produce, the Cheese and Chilli Festival hosts all manner of free entertainment including live music, falconry flying displays, wine tastings, children’s entertainers, stunt shows, cooking demonstrations, a free wine masterclass and, of course, the inevitable chilli eating competition! Wash it all down with a trip to several pop-up bars including Downton Brewery and Dorset Mobile Bar’s ‘Final Furlong’ inflatable pub!
The event is easy to reach – right next to Bournemouth Airport – and 2017’s festival promised even more cheese and chillies than ever! The event runs over a series of venues but an exclusive to the Christchurch event was local cooking celebrity Sarah Ali Choudhury, who whipped up her famous Chilli Paneer Blaze in the Demonstration Tent.
