The spectacular and world-famous Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra made their return to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on 12 November 2017 with Italian Passion, a Sunday afternoon symphonic concert.
This afternoon of Italian-influenced music launched with Tchaikovksy’s Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture, a composition which has become synonymous with a declaration of love in popular films through the ages.
Other highlights included Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 and K.491, Intermezzo from Cavalleria and Rusticana by Mascagni and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 ‘Italian’, bursting with character and Italian folk influence.
The performance was conducted by Harish Shankar, with Teo Gheorghiu on piano and Catherine Bott presenting a memorable and classy afternoon serenaded by the most recognisable and sublime Italian symphonies.
