If you’re looking for a home from home close to the sea, check our Bournemouth’s Britannia Hotel on Meyrick Road in the town’s popular East Cliff area. You can stroll down to the town’s world-famous pier in ten minutes to dip your toes in the inviting English Channel and the Bournemouth International Centre, the new Bh2 leisure complex and Pavilion Theatre are just half a mile away. Central location
Getting to the Britannia is simple whether you’ve got your own vehicle or you’re travelling by public transport. The hotel is situated not far from the main A338 Wessex Way in and out of the town and limited, unreserved parking (34 parking spaces and 2 disabled spaces) is available on site for a charge of £3 per day up to 3pm on the day of check-out. There is also ample, metered parking on the roads around the hotel. If you’re coming by train or by coach the Britannia is close to the town’s main train and bus stations (less than a mile) and Bournemouth Airport is six miles away.
Room for all
The Britannia has several types of bedrooms to suit your travelling party and reason for your stay. All bedrooms offer free WiFi to guests (public areas only), an en-suite bathroom with a shower and bath, television, telephone and hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities.
If you’re after a double room you can choose a standard, upgrade for a more spacious executive room, opt for a sea view or reserve an accessible room, which is equipped with handrails, pull cords and wider doorways.
The Britannia offers two types of family accommodation, a standard three-person family room with one double and one single bed and a four-person room with a double and a bunk bed.
If you’re celebrating something special or want to treat yourself then why not check out the penthouse suite, which can accommodate up to eight people in three double bedrooms and offers private lounge and dining areas and access to a large roof terrace on top of the standard bedroom amenities.
You can check in any time from and check-out is until 10am on the final day of your stay. Reception is open 24 hours a day if you need some local information or just want to store your luggage while you enjoy one last day on the beach before you head for home.
Disabled facilities
Besides the adapted rooms which provide improved access for people with disabilities The Britannia offers level ground floor access from the street to the Reception, the restaurant and bar. There are two disabled friendly bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor of the hotel and lift access to all floors. If you have a specific requirement or concern please speak to the hotel for recommendations. The Britannia has other hotels in Bournemouth (The Carrington House, The Royal Bath, the Heathlands Hotel and the Roundhouse Hotel), which may otherwise offer the facilities you need.
Pet-friendly destination
The Britannia Hotel is pleased to welcome your well-behaved pet to share your room during your stay. This is subject to a £50 refundable deposit and a fee of £10 per pet per night or £25 for more than two nights. There is a maximum of one pet per room but other than this it’s time to pack up Rover and head for the beach!
The hotel is just a short walkies from the promenade, Bournemouth’s pleasure gardens and sandy beach so it’s a great opportunity to treat your furry friend to a break in the sea air. Please note pet owners are responsible for bringing their own food and bedding supplies and dogs are allowed throughout the hotel except for eating areas like the bar and restaurant as long as they are on a lead and well behaved.
Britannia restaurant
The Britannia Hotel has a spacious and welcoming restaurant on the ground floor where guests can enjoy a relaxed and informal meal. Get your day off to a great start with the hot and cold breakfast buffet or a selection of lighter bites, served from 7:30 to 9:30am Monday to Saturday and 8 to 10am on Sundays and Bank Holidays. The restaurant serves an a la carte, British menu for dinner daily from 6:30 to 8:30pm, plus a hot and cold buffet and home-cooked carvery roast of the day. You can also enjoy the Britannia roast for Sunday lunch, which is served between 12:30 and 2:30pm each week.
Lounge bar
If you’re looking for somewhere to grab a snack or spot of lunch, perhaps a leisurely cream tea, pop in to the Britannia Hotel’s lounge bar, which is open every day until 9pm and serves a selection of hot and cold light bites and snacks (last service for food is 8pm), coffees, wines and cocktails.
Spindles Health Club
Residents of the hotel are welcome to use the facilities of the on-site Spindles Health Club for the duration of their stay. Guests might wish to plunge into the indoor heated pool, sink into the relaxing jacuzzi spa bath or unwind in the sauna before enjoying a beverage in the venue’s inviting lounge area or settling down on a sunbed. Hotel guests pay £4 entrance for use of the facilities (£2 for children) and non-residents £6 per day. If you are planning to use the health club regularly you can purchase a week-long Gold Card membership for £10 (adults) or £5 (children). Spindles Health Club is open from 8am to 7pm every day of the week.
