Unsurprisingly in close proximity to the Branksome railway station in Poole, the Victorian Branksome Railway Hotel (established 1894) is a family-run business offering up a large selection of lagers, ciders and real ales.
The building itself is steeped in history and prides itself on being a traditional pub with all the trimmings. Each Wednesday they proudly announce their guest ales, which go down an absolute treat with the regulars. Come along on a Thursday or Friday night for live music from a roster of guest bands or an open mic night if you always fancied treading the boards. If you’re a sports fan, make sure you come down whenever your team is on the telly and the Branksome Railway Hotel will screen it for you and your fellow fans. The Branksome Railway Hotel strives to show all televised sports matches and races and can screen multiple games at once.
All in all, a popular, traditional railway pub with six bedrooms if you happen to have one too many of the guest ales – or you need to catch a train in the morning!
Comfy and convenient
In terms of the hotel business, presently under refurbishment The Branksome Railway Hotel currently has two bedrooms available to book. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in both rooms and a television too. You can check in any time from 2pm and check out is any time prior to 11am on the final day of your stay.
There is free WiFi available throughout the building and in the bedrooms – ideal if you’re stopping here on business or you like to stay connected. It’s obviously extremely convenient if you’re travelling by train but if you’ve brought the car, parking is free and the hotel is conveniently situated on the road that runs directly between Bournemouth and Poole.
