The fantastic family Christmas caper will see Jack full of beans and up to his old tricks again. As ever, the Trott family is penniless and in dire straits. When Jack goes to sell his beloved cow, all he can get is a measly bag of beans, so our hapless hero is soon in the doghouse.
But these are no ordinary beans! When a giant beanstalk appears in the garden, Jack’s extraordinary adventures are just about to begin as he must climb the beanstalk, defeat the giant and retrieve the treasure.
From the team behind previous Lighthouse hits Aladdin, Cinderella and Peter Pan, the fe-fi-fo-fun is guaranteed!
Donning Jack’s tights is the Poole-based star of The Impressions Show and Coronation Street, Debra Stephenson who’s thrilled to be home for Christmas.
“We come to Lighthouse a lot to see different things and it’s lovely to be home for Christmas – I love having the kids come to see the show,” she says.
Also starring in Jack and the Beanstalk are Patrick O’Kane (The Borgias, Game of Thrones) as Fleshcreep and Neil Smye as The King, with experienced panto Dame Tom Bright as Dame Trott.

Aladdin – Pavilion

The West End is heading South as this year’s Bournemouth Pavilion pantomime – Aladdin is set to be of show-stopping West End quality. Oh no it isn’t? Oh YES it is!!
Aladdin begins its magical 4 week stint on the Pavilion stage from Saturday 7 December – Sunday 5 January 2014.
This year’s dashing Dame is the larger than life character Bobby Crush who is all set for his 33rd panto appearance. Playing Widow Twankey, Crush is certainly not new to the stage with a great history of West End successes including three seasons at the London Palladium.
With a cast stronger than the genie’s lamp, this years panto is set to be magical, magnificent and more amusing than ever!

It’s An Urban Legend
Christmas is taking centre stage in Bournemouth this year, the Town Centre BID has generated a local interest like nothing before. This new and inspired concept is allowing those with special talents to shine through and strut their stuff over the festive period, making Christmas in Bournemouth bigger and better than ever before. Within the confines in the Town Centre BID is the Christmas music festival whereby presenters are allocated time slots to generate their own unique themed performance line-up.
Urban Explosion; also sponsored by Bournemouth.com is just one of many showcasing ecliptic, modern and electrifying performances, in this case an urban and underground genre, with a mix of singing, rapping and dancing acts throughout a four and a half hour set listing.
Organised by Bournemouth retail owners Urban & Swarvy’s Joe and Cindy they have painstakingly bought together emerging talent and more established artists from Bournemouth, London and through friends of friends to create an almost community-focused session, bringing something different to the Bournemouth musical mainstream.
The star of the line-up was Zuby, with 14,000 albums sold independently, the English born, Saudi Arabia-bred and Oxford University educated artist brought his unique brand of ‘commercial underground hip-hop’ and an air of swagger to the stage. Over the last couple of years he has earned a global following and an adoring social media fanbase, permitting him to tour throughout the UK and Eastern Europe. Zuby hotted up the Bournemouth crowd, pulsating the icy winter evening atmosphere with his own breed of humorous hip hop magnetism. He performed a full 45 minute set, working yet chilling out the audience with some of his personal classics such as “Comin’ at ya” as well as some of his new sounds.

The Christmas Market officially opened for business Thursday 14th November, over the last couple of years the quaint chalets have become a welcome addition to Bournemouth’s advent revelry, so expect this weekend to be buzzing with excitement in The Square. At the Lower Gardens “The Garden of Lights” commence Saturday 16th November until 6th January with Dancing on Ice star Vicky Ogden and Olympian Robin Cousins officially launching the event. “The Garden of Lights” will be sparkling and glittering up the beautiful dark wintry nights for everyone to enjoy with an eccentric addition this year; “The Light Pods” designed by local lighting team Michael Grubb. A installation of wonderment, colour and illumination.
The ‘real’ Ice Rink will take prime focal position within the Garden of lights. This year it boasts to bigger and better than ever! Tickets are £8.50, Open daily from 10am.
